Bass Combo

Top Panel Features

 

Input: Use this jack to connect your instrument via a standard ¼” mono cable.
Headphone Output: Connect your Headphones and enjoy the analog cabinet emulation.
Passive/Active: Use this push-button switch to change from passive to active mode. If your bass is active it can have a hotter signal making the amp to distort early (feel free to use if such additional distortion is desired).
Compression: Controls the amount of dynamic compression. The make up gain is adjusted automatically.
Drive: Controls the amount of distortion that the Microtubes Engine will deliver. Press to select the drive mode: OFF / Vintage Microtubes (Blue) / Microtubes B3K (Red).
Blend: Use this knob to mix between the Clean signal and the Distortion signal.
Level: Controls Microtubes Engine’s output volume.
Bass: ±12 dB @ Low shelf
Low Mids: ±12 dB @ 500 Hz / 1 kHz. Press to select the frequency (LED is ON for 1 kHz)
Hi Mids: ±12 dB @ 1.5 kHz / 3 kHz. Press to select the frequency (LED is ON for 3 kHz)
Treble: ±12 dB @ High shelf
Master: Use this knob to control the overall volume of the combo. Press for Mute.

Back Panel Features


AC Power ON/OFF
: Power ON the combo beast.
AC Socket: Use this connector to feed electric power to the amplifier. 100 – 230 VAC, 50 – 60Hz. Set the voltage selector switch to the correct position before turning on the amplifier!
Tweeter: Turn the tweeter ON/OFF.
Pre/Post: Select between the unprocessed for the DI XLR output and the processed signal.
DI Output: Use this connector to send your signal to the console, mic preamp, interface, etc.
Ground Lift: Use this control to lift the ground of the XLR output. If you are experiencing ground noise in your DI signal, try changing this control.
Aux In: Connect this to the headphone output of your laptop, cellphone, MP3 player, etc. The Aux In signal is fed only to the headphone output.
Return: Use this input to receive the signal from your outboard gear.
Send: Use this output to send the signal to your outboard gear.
Footswitch: Use to connect the Darkglass Super Intelligent Footswitch or Intelligent Footswitch using a ¼” mono instrument cable. The Darkglass MIDI footswitch can also be used as Super Intelligent Footswitch.
External Speaker: Use this connector to connect the amplifier to an external speaker cabinet.

  • The SpeakON Combo jack allows for SpeakON or ¼” speaker cable operation. The minimum load impedance is 8 Ω. Tvhe minimum power rating must be 250 W. WARNING: Do not use an instrument cable with the external speaker connector. Using an instrument cable can damage your amplifier.

Warning

  • Please ensure that the voltage selector on the back of the unit is set to the correct mains voltage before powering up Microtubes 500 Combo.
  • The speaker output has a minimum load of 8 Ω. Never use an instrument cable with the speaker output.
  • No user-serviceable parts inside the amplifier. Do not open the amp.
  • Never use the amp at a high moisture environment or near liquids.
  • The Microtubes 500 Combo can deliver ear-shattering sound pressure levels. Exposure to this level of sound can damage your hearing. Use proper hearing protection.
  • The Microtubes 500 Combo can deliver more than 500 watts. Be sure that your speaker cabinet is able to deliver that power.
  • Do not cover the vent holes. The fan and vent holes are part of the cooling system of the amp.
  • Covering the vent holes can damage the power amp by overheating it.
  • Don’t use an instrument cable as speaker cable. An instrument cable is not designed to deliver the type of power signals sent from the amplifier to the speaker.

Warranty

 

The Microtubes 500 Combo comes with a 2-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. If you experience any issues with your amplifier, please contact support@darkglass.com to obtain a Return Authorization Number or to find out about the nearest authorized repair center.
