“Microtubes 900 has the most flexible and musical-sounding overdrive capability of any solid-state head”

Bass Player Magazine has been the bible for bass enthusiasts since its foundation in 1988, with a mix of interviews, lessons and gear reviews. Now, this renowned publication has given our new Microtubes 900 a try… and they wrote an amazing review about it!

Our just released 900w amp has been recognized with the “Editor Award” on the magazine’s Holiday issue, and this glowing review comes as an amazing recognition. “Developing products like this is extremely challenging and difficult not just for me, but for the whole team” says our founder, Douglas Castro, “so it’s incredibly rewarding to see the product succeed to the magnitude that it has and that the effort and time put we into it is appreciated”.

Starting with the Microtubes 900 design, the article describes the brushed aluminum chassis as “gorgeous” and its overall appearance as “one of the sexiest-looking amps out there”. And it doesn’t end up there, with the review praising our amp’s versatility combining “a monstrously powerful 900-watt Class D/SMPS module from ICEpower with an intriguing and innovative preamp that marries a clean channel with a versatile overdrive channel”.

“Several years ago we spoke with Dough about why not conceiving a Darkglass amp, easily four years ago” Hugo Villarroel, our Co-Founder and Sales Manager, tells us. “So receiving the editorial award with our very first one is something that makes us feel very positive when it comes to the future of the Darkglass Amplification concept” he adds, “we have had our most exciting years ever, and this is by far the best way to close 2106”.

Microtubes 900 has the most flexible and musical-sounding overdrive capability of any solid-state head” Bass Player Magazine concludes, adding that our newest release “is close to the state of the art for bass heads”. As they put it: “No longer do we have to compromise weight for power and tone. Its flexibility, durable construction, and thoughtful design make it clear why Darkglass is a major new player in our little corner of the musical instrument industry”.
